WASHINGTON, DC., March 26th, 2025 – SIECUS: Sex Ed for Social Change was featured in an article in Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health’s Global Health NOW titled What Do American Kids Learn About Sex? It Depends Who You Ask. Annalies Winny, an associate editor at Global Health NOW, quoted Director of Policy and Advocacy, Alison Macklin (She/Her).

Most parents in the United States prefer comprehensive sex education programs over abstinence-only, yet progress is lagging behind. Macklin notes the chilling effect our political climate has on these sensitive subjects on top of a “mountain of problems that [teachers and schools] are struggling with… they are feeding kids or clothing kids. They’re the mental health safety net… Unfortunately, complying with certain laws around sex education may not be top of mind.”
